La couvertoirade

La Couvertoirade is one of the five completely walled fortified towns from the time of the Templars. At the tourist office you can find a lot of information about the Templars. It is possible to make a tour with a guide or with an audio system.
In the summer months, there is a special children's programme.
La Couvertoirade is about a 15 minutes drive from the campsite.
Visit all the Templar villages in the Larzac: La Cavalerie, Sainte Eulalie de Cernon, le Viala du Pas de Jaux, Saint Jean d'Alcas et La Couvertoirade. Tip : Finish with the village of La Couvertoirade, in our opinion the most beautiful of the 5.
From La Couvertoirade you can make nice walks.

There are beautiful mansions from the 17th century, courtyards, antique shops and plenty of souvenir shops and cosy terraces.

Aigues Mortes

Aigues-Mortes een vestingstadje waar de middeleeuwse sfeer goed bewaard is gebleven. Dit komt mede doordat de verdedigingswerken, zoals de omringende muur en haar Aigues-Mortes is a fortified town where the medieval atmosphere is well preserved. This is partly due to the defensive works, such as the surrounding wall and its defence towers. The old city centre, with its beautiful streets and squares, is very nice to wander through. You can enjoy a nice lunch on one of the many terraces. Aigues-Mortes is a beautiful historical town, which is definitely worth a visit!
